Public transit is great, but it is not a public good, that's not what that means!! A public good is non-excludable and non-rivalrous. Public transit is excludable (assuming there's a fare) and rivarlous (only so many seats on a train, bus can get stuck in traffic, etc).

Transit needs to be fast, frequent, clean, and safe. We absolutely do need to invest more in public transit, but a free bus that comes once/hour isn't the solution. Stay tuned for a new video about Southern Maryland Rapid Transit (SMRT), a vital project for PG County and Charles County, Maryland.
