They are not ideal, but are much, much safer, cleaner, and healthier than encampments. You're definitely right about if fascists are sweeping without a place to go - but I haven't seen a case of this up here, nor in the last hour of research that I just did. Only rumors of that.
I've heard only anecdotal complaints - often from addicts that I'm trying to speak to, who are angry and confused, and in need of multiple services. For example, "I can't believe they kicked us out!" "Were people given notice?" "Yeah, but they came anyway!" It's sorrowful, but not really valid.
Sorry to write so much, but I really value your POV. I still suspect there's validity to the hate against Newsom, but this has just pushed me further into thinking that this task force is an improvement, while in every, every single repub state the issue is getting worse.
