For those too young to know...this didn't happen when I was a kid in the Sixties. We did the doorbell prank, it never once occurred to us we could be shot, and we never heard of it happening. What's changed? America is now drowning in guns and hate. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Also in the 70s, in the 80s, and in most places in the 90s this would not considered "common" be any stretch of the imagination. But as time has past, more and more similar stories are viewed as "terrible but not surprising". While then they were shocking.

I've been wondering lately if everyone who lives long enough looks at the nation they grew up in and realizes it has dramatically changed. Some nations surely do it for the better...but here we are, with Russia, China, and other authoritarian nations laughing at what we've let the GOP/Rump do to us.

Nope. What they are laughing at is us being surprised by things that have gone on in shadows for generations. The US gov has been famous for its questionable actions for 10s of decades, and its one of the younger countries around. It has spent several fortunes on...

...the lies that the US are the "good guys" (mostly to its own citizens), while terrorizing over half the globe. Trump is just not hiding the evils. That's what is making many people nervous.
