2/n Too many times Iβve been called Miss or Mrs as my academic title while my male colleagues get are called Doctor, even when they donβt hold a doctorate. This happens less at my current institution and only from 1st year students coming out of high school.

3/n Once at an academic networking function (at another institution, not my current one) the Academic contract instructors were invited to meet the upper level administration (no diversity). They introduced themselves to all the men, shaking hands and asking questions, but not to the women.

An opportunity to be pedantic. What joy! You CAN be a "Dr. Wong, PhD." To wit: Dr. in the medical sense (MD: Doctor of Medicine is a PROFESSIONAL designation). PhD is Doctor of Philosophy, is an ACADEMIC designation. "Dr. Wong, PhD," would have two degrees: 1 medical and 1 academic. Methinks?

LOL. I appreciate the support. I think we would all be happy with gender parity (as implemented in governance like in Iceland and UAE). Our younger generations are showing a lot of promise in this, but I might be in my academic bubble with competent and empathetic students.
