Every urban downtown in America is abunch of hipster lofts and overpriced boutique stores. Every rural main st in America is two meth addicts fighting over a bucket of copper wire they stole. Guess which one politicians are allowed to demonize as crime ridden hellholes with zero push back.
People doing meth end up going to jail where they make the State money. If you're getting an education and a job, you're competition for their rich kids who aren't even trying.

Well while there may not be that many [n words] downtown anymore because they got priced out, they lived there in the 80’s when I was a little kid in the suburbs so it’s STILL scary!

not every smalltown. ripon, wi, (pop. 7200) where i attended college, has a little bit of an artsy stretch on watson street so that the faculty & students won't recoil in horror when they step three feet off campus.
