Still doesn’t go far enough imo, “hit by driver” should be the mandatory reporting standard. If the car was an autonomous vehicle then fair enough, use “hit by car”.

Agree. And it does matter because we have research on how language choices affect perceptions of crashes.

I feel a lot of people say it subconsciously, but I’m of the opinion that the MSM do it intentionally. Language definitely matters and has never been more important to get right.
