Every time I see the âfight for truthâ internal promotion on BBC News, I spend the following moments laughing. An organisation that is not just incapable of conducting basic levels of research, but one that actually acts to amplify misinformation.

Yes far more likely imo, all of course depends on the race situation. The 1st kilometre of Vivero really can set the tone as itâs pretty steep. 1st time up Visma hard pace, put pressure on UAE. 2nd time round, string it out further and open gaps. Pike offers the chance to strike the killer blow.
Can definitely see him going for it today, a stage where he can arguably put a lot more time into his closest GC rival (Almeida) than Angliru. Stage is tricky for JoĂŁo, made worse with the dysfunctional UAE support. Where do you see Jonas going, the 2nd Vivero ascent or a stinging attack on Pike?
You could throw in glorious sunshine and it being a weekend morning and it still wouldnât make the slightest difference. Rather than seeing such an obvious example and wanting to join in, itâs far more likely theyâll just harbour resentment towards those taking the path of least resistance.

Just said it in the post stage interview. Fairly late call to ride the Giro and didnât change his plans accordingly in place of classics prep. Whereas, heâs had time to prepare for specifically for La Vuelta and his performance so far shows the difference thatâs made.
Was very critical of Pidcockâs plan for La Vuelta before the race started. Thought, hanging on for dear life to the back of the GC group prob wasnât the best way to make use of his talent. That said, I did not see him being this good and have to say Iâve been very impressed with his level so far.

La Vuelta rest day thoughts: One of many things I love about La Vuelta is the dynamic where an unexpected rider takes red and battle to keep it for longer than people expect. Riders like Rudy Molard, Odd Christian Eiking and of course last year Ben Oâ Connor. This year that man is Torsten Traeen.

Fair question to ask, esp. as motorists play hell about cyclists not pulling aside for them as theyâre the faster vehicle. Shouldnât it work both ways? Otherwise itâs just hypocrisy. To this day, Iâve never had a driver pull aside for me when Iâm clearly the faster vehicle.
No shying away from it, much as I love La Vuelta, the next wave of apparent talent at Tour de lâAvenir shows that the future of pro cycling is in very good hands. I do feel this class has a chance to equal or even better the Pogi led class of 2018.

Fully agreed, only luck that his actions didnât lead to a fatal outcome. The punishment comes nowhere near to meeting the level of malice involved in the crime. Until a proper and consistent deterrent is established, unloved cowards like this will continue to impose their frustrations on others.

Very difficult to execute a plan if itâs built on various moving parts, often conflicting. Felt Joao was always going to end up being the sole leader, finding that out so early is a blessing. Heâll need a full team around him to ensure heâs not haplessly out of position when âthe moveâ goes.
I think it helps UAE (I know many people were looking forward to Almeida vs Ayuso theatrics), but itâs good their team leader established before the really crucial stages. A shame for the race. But at the same time it now opens a possible podium spot to fight for with a lot potential suitors.
He got a late call up so preparation could be at least partially to blame, but even with that said, getting dropped like he did suggests thereâs more going on. Almeida doing Almeida things eventually getting back on terms, but it could have been much worse for him.
Plus Pal not really a tough enough climb to make any serious attack worthwhile. Kept their powder dry and saw the struggles in UAE unfolding.

Bad drivers just canât deal with it. Didnât mention it in an earlier post from todayâs ride, but the amount of pointless overtakes only to sit in a traffic queue at the lights 100 yards ahead was just unreal.
The bad drivers love to let everyone know how inept they are at driving with their self-owns. 20mph speed limit roads are definitely their kryptonite.
I feel a lot of people say it subconsciously, but Iâm of the opinion that the MSM do it intentionally. Language definitely matters and has never been more important to get right.

Seems like something that should be more formalised. Makes a lot of sense and hitting bad/dangerous drivers in the pocket is one of the most effective deterrents there is.
Agreed, they can play a part in offering a deterrent. Iâm not sure of the legal implications I.e. whether it has to follow police prosecutions, but if not they could definitely partner with 3rd party portals where a lot of riders send in their footage.
I know youâve had several instances like this and your local police force deserve the reputation they have for it. Shouldnât be a post code policing lottery, which is why I firmly believe that there should be a a centralised and dedicated unit to process video submissions nationally.
Any driver account of events re: their involvement requires verification, because they have a terrible habit of telling lies. It takes a lot for a cyclist to lose their sh!t because their immediate priority as a VRU is their own safety.
Yes probably didnât think theyâd done anything wrong. There will almost certainly have been some unreported provocation leading up to the incident itself.
I do hope someone comes forward with a detailed witness statement, because I suspect the motorist might have conveniently left out a few critical details in his account.

They have but it tends to be situated in certain regions/municipalities. And agreed, the risk is always there and there is a genuine threat from the far right. Rural provinces in Andalusia are at particular risk as they donât enjoy quite the level of economic benefits as other places.
Far from being perfect and certainly not immune from far-right agitators. I do not know the facts of what sparked the violence, but I strongly suspect it was the far right who amplified this to cause the unrest. Ultimately, as Spainâs economic performance shows, immigration plays a key part.

Well pointed out and I strongly believe the âexceptional hardship defenceâ should be abolished altogether. Drivers agree to adhere to all applicable laws and rules on being granted a driving licence, whilst having a system that gives them more than 1 chance to keep their driving privileges.

It certainly is and once again, individual responsibility to put the climate at the forefront of their thoughts when voting. The fact that polls suggest a strong chance of a climate change denying Reform Govât speaks volumes.
