He got a late call up so preparation could be at least partially to blame, but even with that said, getting dropped like he did suggests there’s more going on. Almeida doing Almeida things eventually getting back on terms, but it could have been much worse for him.

Yeah, even with poor shape or prep, I wouldn't expect that to happen. A shame for the race and the competition honestly

I think it helps UAE (I know many people were looking forward to Almeida vs Ayuso theatrics), but it’s good their team leader established before the really crucial stages. A shame for the race. But at the same time it now opens a possible podium spot to fight for with a lot potential suitors.

Yeah the *drama* is one thing, but I guess in an ideal world they could 1-2 Jonas if both were in top shape, but that was clearly delusional. I think you're right, this might actually be much better for the team 🙈

Very difficult to execute a plan if it’s built on various moving parts, often conflicting. Felt Joao was always going to end up being the sole leader, finding that out so early is a blessing. He’ll need a full team around him to ensure he’s not haplessly out of position when “the move” goes.
