Been watching it gradually less and less, then switched it on tonight as nothing else on TV to witness that. Just more of the same from the BBC. Newsnight is done, whatever it once had has long since gone.

When I have watched it, I can see why the good journos moved on to other pastures. Given the low quality of BBC 4 lately, endless reruns, I'd happily see it axed if and only if the money saved went into producing better content. Fewer news programmes with thorough research and room to extend.

Watching the long interviews with Thatcher aired recently was revealing. The bite, that following up on points, has long gone.

When you look at the editorial decisions at the BBC, cutting good informative programs, whilst airing a cooking show knowing that it would only get a fraction of it’s usual viewers, you have to think the rot is intentional.

Kind of is. Daytime TV now is so poor. A few people I know have it on - more as background - and realise well into the show they have seen it before. A waste of electricity = much output on TV from our national broadcaster, almost driving people elsewhere. In my case, ZDF.

Very few things left that the BBC do well now. Contrast that to a decade or so ago and it’s unrecognisable.
