The problem here is that they will do the same as soon as they get the chance. Gerrymandering needs to go away for everybody everywhere.

Thats exactly the point being made. Dems have disarmed and allowed the other side to rub rampant. Yes, we know this is a terrible system, but unless it's the same everywhere it is implicitly beneficial to one side. Only one side wants to be in a democracy.

Yes, gerrymandering needs to go away, but *until it does*, Democrats need to use it just as ruthlessly as Republicans already are doing.

Democrats have sponsored federal bills to end gerrymandering but Republicans block them. A truce requires *both* parties’ agreement.
