I'd prefer to not have to use violencemyself except as a last resort or to protect others(partially because I suck at it), but provisions, subterfuge, sabotage, spywork, I can do that. And being a 40 year old white guy with a thick Southern accent might actually be advantageous to the spywork here.

Don't get me wrong. Weapons and people trained in their use ARE essential in warfare, but wars are rarely won by those alone. Information, logistics, adequate supplies, etc., all play important roles as well. Roles that can be done by people who can't fight conventionally or on the front lines.
