I think of it like this: anytime someone asks the rich to give some of their wealth, they push back. If the rich win, they push back the next time they are asked. Again, and again, and again. If we asked the rich to pay 10 cents more in taxes, they would spend millions to prevent it.

Actually, yes. They have "valuation" but very little cash. They live almost completely on finance. That's why they're so greedy - to keep being able to make the payments on all the loans to maintain their lifestyle.

Saw a TED Talk on YouTube once that thru dozens of studies they discovered that as wealth increased, feelings of compassion and empathy for others decreased. Entitlement of wealth also increased. Rich people do look down on anyone not as rich as them.
