Anyone who encourages people to stack rocks can kick rocks
Anyone who encourages people to stack rocks can kick rocks
Spent a home-vacation in a touristy mountain area, kicking down every little rock-stack I found. I've never felt more patriotic.
I hope he kicked it down after he built it. It's really bad for the local critters.
That is an abomination.
Rocks used for these endeavors had provided shelter for a wide variety of wildlife. Further, the act of stacking or balancing rocks is inherently dangerous because when these collapse wildlife can be injured or killed. Because of the damage rock stacking causes it is banned on public preserves.

🥰😍🥰
BEAUTIFUL!
There's no excuse for that, anti-environmental Artist That is terrible for the environment. Very disrespectful, and encourages others to do the same. If he wants to do it in some garden great, not in nature. Many things depend on those rocks being where they are to survive.
Thank you for educating about the damage these rock structures do to the environment. Education helps so much more than hurling insults at the unknowing who share out of ignorance.
This is a cool post. Here’s a little one I did a while back. They’re kinda difficult to put together.

Exactly what needs to be done
It all depends where he gets the rocks, what he does is pointless stupid and serves no purpose other than create a risk for any living creatures that might be around when it crashes back to fkn rocks.. If they're extracted from the beach sand, where they house marine life, then shove a cactus up yer
Love that
They're lovely, I wonder if this is also his work? I believe it's called "Stargate Portal" in Borrowdale, Lake District National Park England.
Came here to say this. Don't love heart shapes, myself, but I do love nature
I'm pretty sure Andy Goldsworthy's celebration of the natural world was never intended to be a vehicle for its destruction.
Let’s check our egos at the trailheads and boat launches, and leave the earth’s natural beauty alone. Stop stacking rocks in wild places. gearjunkie.com/news/stop-ro...
The art of being an idiot and not caring about the local fauna
That is beautiful
Nope, it's how you kill every critter that lives in and around those rocks.
Unbelievable
Are you able to form complete sentences?
Noooo
Ok well, work on that and get back to me. You should reread my post because I think your reading comprehension is a tad lacking.
Are you accusing me of something?
Do you build rock structures in the woods or on beaches?
nope
Ok, then just fuck off back under what ever rock you crawled out from underneath. Oh, wait, shit, someone stacked that rock and now you're dying.
Ok
No
?
Very beautiful.
Yet when I go to nature to escape the intrusion of man, I don’t want to encounter man-made structures in the wilds.
Yes. Same. If I was there and saw that, all I’d probably think about is how many little critters that lived in the nooks and crannies were displaced or died for that 😔
Those holes in the rocks were homes to sea/ beach creatures till they were stacked away from the tides . Basically a mass murder here fyi .
Why destroy the environments that so may lives depend on? This is not art, it is vandalism. biologyinsights.com/why-are-rock...
Thank you for educating.
👍
Beautiful
I will scream the truth into the void for as long as I still have a voice I am innocent
I love it! Thank you for posting it.
OMG

Thank you for educating about the harm rock structures cause instead of hurling insults to the unknowing.
This!! Floods wiped out our river watersheds over a decade ago. My town spent yrs, $$$$s & labor rebuilding the waterways. We're restoring our rivers bringing back lost stocks of native fish (trout, etc) & waterfowl. Every idiot stacking rocks and building pools damages our ecosystem. STOP!
Wow!
This is damaging to the environment.
Wow!
I can understand stacking 4 small rocks in a mountain trail to let other hikers know that they’re going the right way but from what I understand these beach and river rock stacking take homes away from wildlife and sometimes kill them
Special💙
These creations look cool but destroy the local ecology. Lots of critters were unhoused so he could build this.
While true, do you say the same thing when your friends have a bonfire? And do you know that he didn't knock it over after and disperse the rocks?

Thank you for educating instead of just posting rude and derogatory comments.
I don't have bonfires with friends. Not for years. And the critters under those rocks still had to find new places to hide before something ate them.
So you don't tell people "uhm actually you shouldnt have bonfires because it removes the natural habitat of potentially thousands of life forms just by burning one log"? You're right, but also look where this is stacked, its a beach full of slate rocks. The next closest one is less than an inch away
Yeah, rock balancing totally destroys the thing people are looking for when out in these places. I go to the wild to avoid signs of humanity, not to be reminded.
Thank you for pointing that out. I assumed he brought the rocks to his sites instead of using what he found. Guess one should never assume.
Out of all the takes I've seen on the internet, this is the absolute pinnacle of insanity.
...why would he bring his own rocks
You assumed he brought his own rocks?
Surely the same can be said about artists who work with wood! 🤪 or metal for that matter!. Personally, I think this is beautiful.

I wonder if there's a spot where the sunsets & rises can be seen through the arch, it'd be nice to have bench or chair to sit & view it...
Incredible how balance in nature mirrors balance in life. Simple stones, yet a masterpiece of discipline and patience
Stop it! Stacking rocks destroys the habitat of small animals
Ppl do this stacking rocks in our riverways because this social media. Please STOP! Rocks in rivers in situ provide shelter & grounding for fish, water insects, snails, crayfish, a whole host of plants & algae. People ruin the riverbed and the ecosystem just to emulate such "art." Please STOP.
