Is this due to reduced demand (economic slowdown) or because more electricity will be used (replacing oil, coal)?

Electricity consumption in China is growing very fast. Both because of growth in total energy demand and due to electrification. However, renewables are covering roughly all of the growth. And at some point the vertical line levels off - China’s per capita energy consumption is already quite high.

This shows the increase in the electrification rate.
