It’s not to lay low. It’s to control the narrative. It’s something Dem leadership hasn’t/won’t do. It requires an offensive tactic in issues that make Trump vulnerable. Dems respond weakly instead of going on offense.

It’s not the talking that will change minds, but the consequences of Republican policies, which will take a few more months to really land. Meanwhile, fighting with Trump just distracts from those consequences. People put up with anything when they are at war, consumed with the enemy.
So how’s that strategy been working out the last 10 years? Good enough Trump was elected TWICE.
I wouldn’t call 2 impeachments and indictments by 4 grand juries “lying low.” More like controlling the narrative. Trump got less than 45% of the primary vote in 2016. His popularity grew in reaction to liberal opposition, as outlined in the original thread.
A.R. Moxon writes an excellent explanation of the drastic consequences of elected leaders refusing to do their Constitutional Duty. citizensimpeachment.com/impeachment-...
I was in favor of the impeachments and the criminal prosecutions. As you say, it is an essential duty. But now without those powers at hand, I do not think theatrical opposition will help. Better to let him hold the stage and the responsibility for his results.
all politics is theater and if you're not on stage getting attention people wonder why you even collect a salary Ds have a reputation for being useless wimps for a reason
I suppose some pundits see if that way, but most people aren’t paying much attention. They go on living their lives and blaming whoever is in power when that goes poorly, as it will under Republican leadership. They don’t need D’s to tell them whose fault that is when Trump leads the news every day
So you're cool with a fascist dictator being very unpopular as he destroys freedom and democracy day after day for years, grants himself a third term, completely dismantles everything good our country had, including the economy, and setting up his idiot son to take over when he dies. Good to know.
Trump is doing his best to incite the kind of violent reactions that will help him pull that off, and people like you might play into his hand, but I think cooler heads will prevail.
Who incited the violent reaction last time he was legally required to leave office?
after he committed 150 well-documented impeachable offenses, impeaching him twice is a fucking joke. Pelosi could not have been more gentle on him.
Pelosi blocked all impeachments and even investigations. No impeachment inquiry was permitted. She tossed the Mueller Report in the trash. Twice they forced her hand, but even then she sabotaged the process, minimizing the chances of getting a conviction. Here's an in-depth account:
Pelosi has an aversion to fighting battles she cannot win. It takes 2/3 majority in the Senate to remove a president. Otherwise, the effect is to exonerate him and give him an excuse for his own failure, the attacks preventing him from doing his job.
"impeachment is hard so we should just give up" is fucking loser energy we'd never tolerate from a little league team. but somehow people think we should promote that behavior from highly paid high prestige folks who took a fucking oath... smdh
If Paul Ryan or Nancy Pelosi had gone after Trump with the energy and determination of Gingrich attacking Bill Clinton, Trump would have been gone and President Pence inaugurated within a few months. That's what we need from the leaders of our party right now.
