Ok we had a few bumps in the road* but it's in the oven! *I thought I'd try allspice along with a nutmeg as a replacement for cinnamon, not realizing that allspice has cinnamon in it, but only wasted 1/2 cup coffee; it says bake in layers but I'm just doing one
Done! I took a tiny slice from the corner and it's pretty tasty. We're taking it to the in-laws later, so I didn't want to take more
Update: maybe allspice doesn't have cinnamon in it, but I'm fine with not having taken the risk, that shit makes my throat close up 😬
I was wondering. I thought allspice was its own thing. Like a dried berry or something
That appears to be the case, I was relying on my husband doing a quick Google and he misread the results
I'm wearing quite often so I assumed you were correct that it had cinnamon
I have never seen newspaper laid down when cooking before, and now wondering what the hell I've been doing these past fifty years....
That's all my husband, he taught me that!
(Note: I'm allergic to cinnamon, so I'm subbing in nutmeg...we'll see how that goes)
The recipe looks solid, looking forward to the result
This looks interesting! Looking forward to the final report.
That sounds great, actually!
Strawberry jam and coffee. Hmmmm. Curious!
That's a fascinating recipe. Did you enjoy the result?
It's cooling before we put the icing on, but it smells *excellent*. It smells like something my great grandma would have baked.
Oh boy. Let us know.
