Chris Evans cannot be praised enough for bringing that character to life. To make a character that-too-good-to-be-true as believable as he did is one hell of an accomplishment.

With no exaggeration whatsoever Cap is the best translation from comic to film that the MCU executed. It should be a low bar to cross but they’ve tripped on it too many times with other characters.

In a tv special, celebrating the anniversary of the character, it was mentioned that Joe Simon was still alive when the movie was made and a private screening was arranged. Said that Joe was very happy with how it came out, but got somber and said “I wish Kirby was here to see this.”
