I legitimately can't comprehend the way people drive their kids to school today. *No one* did that regularly when I was a kid. You only ever got dropped off by your parents if you missed the bus.

Almost every school district had buses (the one that didn't usually being city districts with good municipal transit). The buses got slashed following on the heels of parents choosing to drive their kids to school, not vice versa.
