Unfortunately for medical reasons I can't quite break free. The migraine is actually my lesser pain. I have partial peripheral neuropathy which causes damage to nerves which in turn cause continuous pain. So I need things active to take my mind off the pain. The chronic migraines are just a bonus.

Chronic pain is so under treated in this country. If you find a drug that helps, they will only let you take it for a short time, claiming it’s addictive. They don’t even understand what addiction is. Taking a drug to be functional is not addiction.

My neuropathy is very resistant to pain meds. Standard sorts don't even touch it. The only thing that works at all is Lyrica. It just limits the pain. I have a friend who has much more standard pain and yeah they cut him off from necessary meds for fear of addiction reducing his quality of life.

My doctor told me opioids don’t work for arthritis. Well, they do for me! I have bone-on-bone in both knees but I refused replacement because it’s a brutal surgery with a really long recovery time, and I am a slow healer. I know they wouldn’t give me enough meds during recovery, either.
