I hate the grading scene so much. I don't care that you have a picture worth lots of money. Cos that's all it reduces things to. Cards, comics, become nothing but a 2D looking glass. A step up from nfts. Are you bragging about ownership of an object? Ah I see you are a child on the playground.

The thing that really gets me is that the people will pay insane markups for things that have been sealed up by just some random guy with a plastic press. I’ve had some interactions with a grader and it staggered me how little he knew about what he was pointlessly entombing.

I am interested in the object's inherent value, it's ability to be enjoyed as that object, read or played with, not locked away to be converted into currency. I don't give a shit mate!!! I'll never be able to offer you as much cash for it as you would get selling it privately so why bring it to me

As a nice shopkeep I won't agree to this. I do have some nice ones.

When someone pops up with an old TMNT figure and asks “what’s this worth” I always say $4 because that’s what it was bought for other than that let’s say a trillion dollars since cash value is made up, subjective and stupid. If you are concerned with the money you’re not seeing its real worth.
