Taylor Foods-- romaine lettuce. Very common during rainy seasons for downstream contamination from livestock farms. Won't be the first time Taylor is in trouble with this either. That's why inspections are vital & violators punished.

I like Taylor Farms salads, how do you know it was Taylors Farms?
www.foodsafetynews.com/2025/04/tayl... they were also responsible for the tainted onions in the McDonald's in 2024 outbreak, lettuce kit recalls in 2023 & 2020.
Thank you, it's pretty bad when the government won't tell you where the problem is. Pisses me off. I was at a baby shower and they had these carrots from Taylor's farms and I just said be careful but hopefully they've stopped the bad carrots by now
YW! As someone who's in food service for a living, I watch this website all the time. Great resouce!!
I love a good cesar salad, but the number of times romaine lettuce has been ground zero for major E. coli outbreaks since I became an adult makes me feel like a rebel without a cause when I eat one
There was an outbreak in my farming community and they never could determine the source.
And I have a bag of Caesar salad in my fridge from Taylor farms. I’m in Canada; normally it is announced what states are affected but apparently there is no longer identification of the company or the reach of the contamination. I really can’t buy anything at all from the US anymore.
Does it have an sticker for Canandain Food Inspection? [Sorry for ignorance, I live in the US. Taylor Farms does have a Canadian distribution system-- would assume subject to Canadian food laws]
Thanks, I did not know this, although I’m not sure E. coli in lettuce would be inspected/detected. I’ll have to look into it further - hopefully before the salad’s expiry date! I’ve reduced buying US goods considerably. The only thing difficult to get from elsewhere are veggies.
Lettuces grown in hot houses/hydroponically *typically have less chance of contamination. *not 100% full proof, but good rule of thumb.
I’ll look further. I haven’t seen hot house lettuce in edmonton, at least not romaine. I really like bagged salads because I’m lazy but guess I’ll have to find hot house veggies and do my own chopping. Not a big problem in today’s upside down world.
