I don't know anything about the dude. I was simply referring to the "passing on" of athletes from grade to grade. I don't follow "celebrities," I have my own life. Don't know much about dyslexia either, but I'm pretty sure there are interventions one can do. There were in the 80s and 90s, anyway.

I work in Special Ed. Kids are passed from grade to grade everywhere. Since they don’t become “athletes” until high school or college , that doesn’t apply. Most people aren’t diagnosed until adulthood. Interventions are available but not everywhere ..and you have to get diagnosed early.

I get it. I really wasn't reacting to the dyslexia as much as the squirrel (because something had to be up to get the English so wrong), & I'm sick of America's Couple, lol. But I didn't pause to think & I should have. I wouldn't want to shame anyone for an immutable characteristic. Mea culpa, all.

In 2004, the County happily diagnosed a fully verbal, normal eye contact 3 yo as PDD-NOS because, being shy w/ strangers, they answered all her questions "snake," thinking it was funny. I knew nothing about autism. I learned fast, & I knew the traits of gifted, but no one would listen.

That happens often! I had a preschooler who didn’t talk at all at school. He was put in special ed. I came in and the kid talked my ear off 😂. I never knew what it was about me, maybe I looked like someone he knew. I had him through 2nd grade when they moved. I really enjoyed him he was smart !

My kid was shy, but met all his milestones perfectly, and had a great vocabulary because I didn't talk down to him. He "studied" things, which his pre-K teacher thought was perseverating, and wasn't interested in making a ton of friends. He made a one or two, though. 20% of people are introverts.

Come on, now. He was 22, in college, probably drunk, after midnight. I'm glad all of my thoughts from that aren't memorialized on the Internet.
