Those of us tuned into Bluesky and small business owners see the tsunami of damage coming with tariffs, but I don't think most Americans feel the worst of it yet. And Epstein Files are enraging but not seeing their relevance for a shutdown. In fact, the Republican congress took a vacation over them.

Overall, I feel like a March shutdown would have far more impact and had more public support. I think Dems had more leverage then -- and Schumer's caving not only squandered it, but also strengthened a narrative that establishment Dems serve billionaire interests and not the people.

Sen. Schumer did not cave to anything, he used his vote for the desired effect. If he allows a shutdown this time around, he's got a pretty good goddamn reason. Sen. Schumer is a technician in the Senate. He knows what he's doing. Period.
