Got one of those "I accidentally reported you and now I need you to send all of your login info to some guy on discord to dispute it" hacked accounts in my DMs today, and how the fuck do people actually fall for this? Has the entirety of Bluesky just forgotten decades of internet safety guidelines??
IDK. I already thought this was an old trick that everyone knows and nobody falls for anymore all the way back in the early 2000s when people were trying it on neopets???
It made the rounds on Steam several years ago, so it keeps coming back periodically, despite how ridiculous the premise is...
And instead of just acting like I'm superior for remembering safety tips from 30 years ago and shaming people who weren't taught, here's a short thread with relevant tips to hopefully help anyone else from getting hacked and becoming another "I accidentally reported you" bot.

think they noticed that twitter going even more to shit has led to a lot more of the "facebook and twitter is the internet" types joining that aren't as familiar with scams that don't exist on phones
This exact same thing happened to me just yesterday. Same copy+paste message too! I laughed at him, told him to get better material, then blocked him. The account was deleted 15 minutes later. Only scary part was it was actually posing as a furry specifically, which was kind of interesting.
