anyway, today I disassembled and reassembled half of my room looking for a ball of string. I never found it, but I fully expect to find it right next to me on my desk in five months, and I'll realize that I just overlooked it this whole time because it was next to the lamp that I also overlooked.

I should know better than to move anything from the spot where it always naturally ends up, even when doing so makes my space 1000x less cluttered and 1000x more usable. 😔

The advice I've always heard is if you're looking for something, and then you find it somewhere weird, put it back in the first place you looked for it, because that's where your brain thinks it should be.

The problem is that the first places I looked were all either annoyingly in the way, or are occupied by other objects that I'd lose forever if I moved 'em. :'D
