I am reminded of the time I stopped at liquor store in Arkansas and there was a visibly pregnant barefoot young woman working the register. There was also a handmade sign. I can’t remember what its exact message was, but there were multiple misspellings amongst the few words it featured.

then i tried to use the restroom at a bbq place in alabama and the lady said "its 'round da co-nah" (its around the corner) and i heard "it's out of order" and just went sadly back to my table and sat down and she was like ??? the entire south conspired to give me a UTI

Sorry for your Mississippi/Southern troubles. I have had similar and also lovely times in MS. Gotta say I once on the same day had my least favorite breakfast of all time (rice with weird and flavorless gravy) and one of my fave desserts (watermelon-citrus-salty-icey-something).

My wife and I stopped for directions at a gas station in North Carolina. (This was in the days before cell phones and online maps.) The nice young man gave us a lengthy explanation of the route. We did not understand a single word. We thanked him and drove off.
