It's kind of funny, when you think about it, given that aside from the nature of it's founding, Plymouth was fairly insignificant as a colony (then again, Jamestown was abandoned twice sooo)

It's the founding principles and the place where both figure into the mythos. On the one hand, you have the older colony, established purely for profit and wealth extraction. On the other, you have the slightly younger colony, established as supposed "godly" place dedicated to a "common good".
