I've played him multiple times, so I don't have a true canon ending for him. His first playthrough we embraced Bhaal and became absolute. The working ending I had for the fanfic, he embraced Bhaal and destroyed the brain, and then died. But that made me sad So now the fic is a choose your own ending

This is the "homecoming" ending where he rejects Bhaal and ends the brain and they don't go to the house of hope(yet) and they stay and rule Baldur's Gate with Ascended Astarion keeping the upper city and Shadowheart keeping the lower city. Gale becomes a god, they build a temple for him.

3/ what's left over from the Churches of Bane and Bhaal and the Flaming Fist is broken down to form the new Steel Guard-the standing army. They do get a choice- join, die, or lose your memory(which they could then return to civilian life)

Oooh but what about the zhents and the guild? Are they being dissolved? absorbed? Turned into Astarions secret network of night-courriers and vampiric secret service agents?

2/ Astarion is a great asset for the management of dissent, so is Shadowheart. Gortash's industry blackens the sky so vampires thrive. We do set up a trade treaty with Reithwin it's Achaia's one request, that Halsin gets his space and is left alone. He takes in the displaced who can't return to BG

See if it were anyone but halsin id be worried about a rival power. But yees, i can see halsin doing very well as the leader of a local trade hub/ refuge for the weary. :)

Oh I have so many thoughts. The Emperor gets to work at reestablishing commerce with the Knights of the Shield, and Roah Moonglow works at the guild and the crime side of things. Gortash gets to be Archduke , but his power is maintained through Shadowheart, Achaia and Astarion
