The problem with Worldcon being technically run by a different group every year means that every year means more opportunities for the organizers who weren't there the last time to step on their metaphorical dicks ( I'm a former Chicon staffer with a formerly hard to pronounce name)

Yup, saw that too. :( That was my ultimate push to write the essay: it suggested folks forgot and/or normalized the name-mangling and moved on.
