I have a very stupid but sincere question. How do the funds get disbursed to them. Are there still functioning banks or places they can pay electronically? If these options get shut down what is the best way to continue to help?

this isn't a remotely stupid question, it's part of why it's generally safe to assume accounts claiming to be victims of war seeking financial assistance are probably bots/scams. if you want to donate: donate to a humanitarian charity that is working with the demographic you want to support.

It’s a good question! So my pinned post has more info but the Bank of Palestine operates and is probably the main way people get money- they pay a lot by bank transfer- there are money changers who will cash people out- but for exorbitant fees (30-40% right now), some people use crypto or PayPal

There has been (at least until March Id have to ask if they are still open) a Western Union and a Moneygram office operating in Gaza- and I do think there is a limited ability in a few places to pay via debit card (but tbh I kinda feel like that’s fallen apart most places now)
