Bring back the Nokia candy bar! I had a prepaid one for my last couple years of high school (flip phones were the hot new thing at the time) and that allowed me to get in touch with my parents easily but did nearly nothing else. I may have texted more if it hadn’t been $0.25 per message, admittedly.

Jim - is he dead yet? @jimj.bsky.social

The best phone I had, before everything got smart, was an Ericsson T-28. It was better than the Motorola RAZR. Tiny, fit great in a hip pocket, good audio quality, battery life for over a week, flip plate to cover the keypad while pocketed. About as big as a credit card and only a few times thicker.

Oh wow, a lost treasure! Back when mobile phones were expected to be good at being phones and being mobile.
