What about log in vs. login? To me, the latter is a noun and the former is a (compound?) verb. “Use your login information to log in.” But based on what I’ve seen it seems to be rare to make any sort of distinction.

Showing this post to my husband with the comment “It’s always been furries all the way down” is how I learned that the phrase “turtles all the way down” isn’t a common colloquialism everywhere. Do I live in a weird philosophy bubble or something?

Bring back the Nokia candy bar! I had a prepaid one for my last couple years of high school (flip phones were the hot new thing at the time) and that allowed me to get in touch with my parents easily but did nearly nothing else. I may have texted more if it hadn’t been $0.25 per message, admittedly.

The ones that still pain me the most are food-related, because I already hated ordering anything from anyone and these both made it worse. Ciabatta, as a senior in high school at a Big Boy restaurant. And linguica, ordering pizza in Massachusetts for the first time in my early 20s.

I have trouble even getting my eyes over to where a fish is jumping before it disappears, 300+ hours sounds absolutely reasonable for managing to get a camera pointed at one.

Store inventory bots seem like an actual good implementation of automation in the retail world. Counting things is a very robot-appropriate task and it might actually lead to a better shopping experience (empty shelves getting noticed and refilled sooner). What horrifying caveat am I missing?

Real borosilicate glass should be fine at 450, my old lab baked all our glassware at 400 as part of routine cleaning to remove organic contaminants. I’ve heard to look for Pyrex with the capital P, or get real lab ware that tells you what it’s made of. Or a ceramic baking dish?

I’ve had some obvious key words muted for many weeks to protect my sanity, so the buzz on Bsky tonight was a little tough to pick up on (not very).
