Whereas my wife and I - five twenty-year-olds in the house (including our own biological son) plus four others in their own houses. The rules - don't take the piss and don't disrespect us. Simplesss.

Simple is better. We had 4 rules - be safe, be respectful, do your work, have fun. Never had an issue.
