Latest report from me below, and here's the Guardian's coverage (thanks to the environment team for covering it). Current policy won't deliver the emissions reductions from transport needed by 2030 and risks widening inequality. Prioritising fairness is the key to unlocking faster climate action.

50% of the global climate crisis relates to the lifestyles of the most affluent 10% of the global population. They just can't live like ordinary people; it's an illness.

We see similar inequality in Denmark. Which why it is socially fair to tax aviation. When politicians try to claim otherwise, they should be called out for protecting the upper middle class, at the expense of the poor.

The solutions suggested seem to revolve around suppressing the movement of people by using taxes to price people off aviation. Which groups of people will be priced out of mobility by this? The richest or poorest? Decarbonisation is the answer, not taxes (that is likely to increase prices too BTW).
