In 1991 Cobra Commander had a translucent red face shield glued on that you could snap off to reveal that he was somehow a middle aged Michael Shannon, who was a teenager at the time.

The FACE of Cobra Commander that you sort of weren’t meant to seeeee!!!! Most of them didn’t have the painted eyebrows and eyes, since I think it was supposed to be a mysterious suggestion of a face and clearly these features were working overtime so hard that they were a bit too visible through the mask. Plus if a toy has a part that looks like it can come off, it’s getting broken off. We are curious apes at heart and we must stare into our Commander’s eyes. This photo is from both YoJoe.com and GeneralsJoes.com. The former is watermarked. I don’t know for sure whose it was to begin with.
