I have Bluejays in backyard that do the same thing.. they're so demanding! I love when they scope the squirrels hiding peanuts in the grass and then swoop down to steal them 🥜 🐦

I feed them kitten food it's very high in protein . Really good for them in places with harsh winters

Peanuts, boiled eggs, corn and the corvid equivalent of crack cocaine: cashews. Be patient and be consistent with when food is expected. Come up with a bird call for when you put food out. Whistling works, and they learn quickly.

Yep .. as @isozygous.bsky.social mentions ; peanuts and occasionally cashews along with consistency and I would add.also. dont try looking directly at them until they want to look at you. I have several Crows locally that call out for me then swoop down to check for treats . Dave is just greedy.

We threw all ten lbs of peanuts we had available and when we ran out began walking to the store to get more. The crows followed us. A drunk came staggering out of a 711 and saw the two of us walking down the street with a roiling cloud of black feathers in our wake and i saw true fear in his eyes

We were sad, thinking they had to leave to go to some big crow meeting. What happened was even better than we could have ever hoped for. They called to the flock and EVERYONE came back, thousands of crows bending power lines and tree branches, cawing and swirling on our block
