TV commentators say it was for kicking the corner flag, that's got me confused. Is it because it broke or something?

If Mateta realised the error of his ways and placed the flag back to its appropriate position, would he have still got a yellow card?

Maybe PL should introduce a "kiss and make up" rule for a dangerous play. Might eradicate red card challenges in a jiffy!
