Very strange. Even acting like Liverpool and man city regularly used to go away and win against each other in their heyday!

Very strange article, more vibes than facts. Disappointing to see.

Not sure about this take Graham, last game was the first time in 23 matches that Arsenal have lost to a big 6 rival. Arsenal's record in those 23 games has been W12 D9 L1. As has been pointed out, we reminded City to "stay humble" last time we met them. Numbers don't appear to support this take.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
This was the first thing that came to my mind too if anything comparable! Still, in the context of that game deciding European qualification, it meant more surely?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
"Doomed to finish second" That means either Liverpool or Manchester city finish before us. Are those clubs not attacking enough, or have they not spent enough money? What's the excuse there?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Haha yes. And they refuse to buy cbs, love their commitment to playing suicide football
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Chelsea would've had to loan him out and still have to pay his wages, like they did with sterling
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Martinelli was shutting down salah. If eze came on early and salah scored a goal, everyone would be claiming mikel for being naive. There is no impetuous on arsenal to be the protagonists away from home to their biggest rivals
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Do you still think that heat map represents a conservative left back?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Calafiori's heat map - spent more time in Liverpool's half than his own. Isn't this what ppl were saying arsenal players didn't do?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Not just winning at anfield, but winning handsomely while missing 4 key players. Before the I'm sure all these ppl wrote all about how this would be a walkover for arsenal, right? Right guys?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Honestly mate, I'm not being rude, just blunt. I gave you data and you came back with... I dunno what. The age "dig" you tried only looks worse for you, considering your struggles to make a cogent argument past someone you think is 7 yrs old. Give up mate, this isn't twitter.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Lmao, is this really the totality of analysis that can fit inside your head? Such a simple man, I almost feel sorry for you. There is nothing meaningful left to discuss if you cannot understand context.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
The only way i have to reconcile this is that every pundit must have been convinced that the Arsenal were so much better than Liverpool that we would've trounced them despite having 4 starters out. Right?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Those are just moments. You think bearing down on goal, eze saw the opportunity to shoot at goal and thought to himself "wait, mikel said be conservative. I'd better go down and look for a pen instead"? Gyo not anticipating ode ball was lack of time spent understanding each other's game.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Ode was just coming back after injury, and Eze has barely trained with the team. To think those 2 would have got us the 3 points in this game is a bit.. hopeful. Martinelli did a great job in shutting down salah and szoboslai while letting calafiori go fwd and create chaos.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
I think the overblown part is claiming that slot wasn't defensive but arteta was. Arsenal did play cagey. But I don't see that as a criticism at all. You were away to 1 of your 2 main title challengers. I expect him to do the same away against Manchester city. And I'm fine with that.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
We all thought that initially. Then we watched the game where we were playing essentially 4-4-2. I don't get how anyone can look at merino's heat map and call him a DM
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Maybe... the opposition were not impressive because we shut them down?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Pro-active? Bro Liverpool have won all of their games in like 85+ minutes. If anything, they way they are paying right now is not sustainable over the season!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Decent analogy, shite analysis. Are you OK bro, you've just replied to a thread from eons past! Reminder to check in on your mental health. I thought arteta had a great game yesterday, just got trumped by a wonder goal!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Think we are overplaying this a bit, all doctors depend on patients to explain symptoms. If patient says it doesn't hurt, how should it be diagnosed (unless it a clean break or visible externally)? Get your concerns, but might be overblown a bit - these things happen. Hope saliba will be alright.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
22-23 Arsenal points 84, goals 88 gd +45 Liverpool points 67 goals 75 gd +28 23-24 Arsenal points 89 goals 91 gd +62 Liverpool points 82 goals 86 gd +45 Whatever point you think you are making, data is missing it as well. Exception was last season, when Arsenal were heavily impacted by injuries.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Only the way pgmol run it. They can easily say we will look at it for 30 secs, if we can't find anyrhing wrong, we move on. But they won't. Cus they hate VAR too.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Have you looked at the table before last season though? We did better than Liverpool for 2 seasons before injuries hit.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
I think we've had this discussion venue on gabriel. Players want to play these matches. It's not easy to tell Saliba not to play against liverpool, especially when you don't know how bad it is - in many cases only the player knows.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
How can you say that? Don't you know emery is a better choice for arsenal than mikel? All the haters say so!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
What is this based on?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
He's holding his hamstring now. Not saying it wasn't a dive, but injury probably forced him to consider it while he otherwise might not have
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Match against top teams tend to be cagey affairs that get broken by a spot of magic. It worked for Liverpool today, another day, rice puts his fk in. Thems the breaks, we congratulate Liverpool on their goal and move on. More often than not, 1 point at Liverpool would've been a solid result.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Striker's finish £130 million for him!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
That's why we love football mate, goals can happen anytime and for the most random reasons. We lost, but not because of the tactics.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Without reading the article for context, this sounds like Hendo likes to walk into rakes. And I'm all for that imagery!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
There's a lot to be said for how martinelli helped shut out salah and timber took care of gakpo. We focus so much on offensive production, but these guys at trying to win games, not just score the most goals! When playing Liverpool at anfield, keeping it tight is usually a good idea!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
1-0 for the next 35 games!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Maybe we needed saka, odegaard and kai?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
So... he's saying Liverpool tried to play but were worse than an Arsenal team NOT trying to play? Haters gonna hate imo
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
I get pundits doing this for clicks, but if you claim to be an Arsenal fan and got this... just maybe pick up a different hobby.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Maybe PL should introduce a "kiss and make up" rule for a dangerous play. Might eradicate red card challenges in a jiffy!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Haha!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
I see it differently. I hated how open we were under later arsene and emery. Still have nightmares of kdb in center circle with nobody within 25 yards of him. Under arteta we are serious. Timber was SHOUTING at midfielders for being left 1-on-1 against gakpo. These things make a serious team
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
I love it. When ppl hate us, it means we are doing something right. It's like when barnardo silva came out and he had more respect for Liverpool after than leo red card. Next match, we smacked them 5-1. Let the haters talk, we'll shut them up on the pitch!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Love it when we rile up our opponents so!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
TV commentators say it was for kicking the corner flag, that's got me confused. Is it because it broke or something?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
I think we did give it a go, just the fk happened too late for us to react in a sustained manner.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Not a Wirtz problem per se, but I feel having wirtz and ekiteke means that now salah doesn't get the ball as early as he used to. And that affects how Liverpool attack.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Sigh, tell me you've never played football without telling me
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm not even gonna bother anymore, it's literally like 2 posts away mate!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
After breaking the British record for signing the future of German football, as all the pundits told me? Wonder what happened to balloon d'or contender salah, thought he always scored against arsenal?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
How much have Liverpool spent and what did those record signings do today?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Salah got shut down by an Italian cb with just 1 cap this year. Liverpool must surely rush him out the club?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Genuinely shocked by some of the reasons, our fanbase seems to think the match was played in London not at Anfield maybe?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
If you were an Arsenal fan, you'd never want the club to lose. I don't like telling arsenal fan not to support the club, but if watching football makes you this miserable, then I've got v bad news for you.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Not sure what you expect him to do other than bring on odegaard, eze and dowman?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
You don't have to watch "artetaball" if you would rather lose than watch it! Plenty of their great teams to watch out there! We have no divine right to roll over teams, particularly not Liverpool at anfield. Get a grip mate
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
You are free to give me any stat that proves Liverpool were braver! Shots, touches in the box, anything you like! But it needs to bolster your argument not weaken it. I'll wait.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
So you'd take Andoni iraola, who took Bournemouth from 15th to 9th, over mikel who took arsenal from 8th to 2nd? Because he "seems not to be a coward"?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
So, you agree with my analysis and still want to continue to build out a narrative? Assuming you are a Liverpool fan, what you are saying is not helping your argument.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Well said, nothing mgrs had lot of respect for each other and a tenacious Dom won the game by playing well in a new position and showing off his quality. That happens.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Even matched up games do go a bit like that, sometimes it's just individual brilliance that wins it. We went into the game without saka, odegaard kai. If we had tried to play we would've been 2 goals down like last year. Or more.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
You think Liverpool went for the kill then? How do you explain the xG?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Feels like you are still searching for a narrative, but this take is better than the first! Why not say that both team canceled each other out, and a brilliant free kick won it? Szoboslai had a great game and deserves plaudits for it!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Reapect your opinion, but not sure if it is cowardice to go to Liverpool without saka kai odegaard and try to keep the game tight Philippe! If we had saka and odegaard and we'd played like this then maybe criticism is valid.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Was a decent away performance, we got done by a worldie, could've happened anytime. If we had saka kai and ofegaard, might have been interesting to see if we'd have been more adventurous
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Start with shutting down salah and wirtz at anfield?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Who?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Exactly! This was a very solid away from home performance, dunno why our fans feel we should be going to anfield and outplaying Liverpool
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Goals and points help... narrative not analysis. If you meant to support my point, then thanks.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Spent 200 million on attackers who did naff all against arsenal missing their best forwards
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Or... Liverpool score a fantastic goal kick but did nothing otherwise. Arsenal missing 3 starting attackers. But narratives sell more than analysis, I guess?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Also, complaining that Arsenal are not attacking while missing Saka, Odegaard and Kai is like the most weird complaint to have
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Although the way it was scored, difficult to complain much!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
YES!! He handles that before Alison has got the ball under control, at least for me
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Outstanding free kick.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Outstanding free kick, top be fair
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Not even close!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Key not to give up impetus away from home
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
This is literally what he does at the expense of being more explosive up front that ppl often miss in our system
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Not sure if the lineup is as defensive as it is... Press-y. Idea is to get at their defense to push back Liverpool. To think Eze would start v liverpool so soon after joining the club was always a bit fanciful.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Not anymore he ain't. Marc guiu it is. Basket case of a club.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
No yellow card for Brighton player booting the ball into stands, but I'm the case of Rice and Leo they had no choice. What a farce
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
$$$
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Interesting how Liverpool fans think their club should treat their players vs how Newcastle should treat isak bsky.app/profile/marh...
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Wonder if you agree a certain north east club should do the same with their players?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
He was dreaming about the his sweet pay-off vanishing into thin air
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
How many frames is sustained pulling. Such a clear dive, shocked that amad didn't get a card for it
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
I've looked at the screen and decided that it's funnier to watch amorim fail for a few more weeks. Penalty United.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
I thought after conte they only wanted to play the Hotspur way?
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
They cannot, he's a trophy winning manager now, automatic disqualification
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Used up all their xG against City
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
However bad they are, Burnley will still need to miss more chances if united are to win this game
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Can only imagine they hate the premier as much as amorim hates Manchester united.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Really pathetic that VAR was basically LOOKING for a reason to chalk this off because they know that they have basically given chelsea this game. The PL "product" gets underlined by none more than PGMOL. If they really cared about the "product", they'd scrap PGMOL now.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
"Ref 'mispoke' because he didn't go for it explanation claiming noone would buy it" I really wish they would turn the micon during the conversation where the ref is watching the replay on screen
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Somehow the explanation made less sense than the decision, it's almost impressive how much refs try to make us hate VAR.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
It was neither careless nor a challenge. Wow, impressive how wrong they got it!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Lmao this is some next level copium. Are you sure you are still calm, little bro? I'm not, I'm on the floor laughing right now.
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Exactly that foot has to go down somewhere. If anything chalobah has put his foot in there!
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Even if we never win a trophy again, you will never catch up with us! Little brother will remain forever in our shadow
Thoughts FC (@thoughtsfc.bsky.social) reply parent
Not this one. Regardless, I appreciate your self awareness in realising you are the little bro. That makes you better than 90% of spurs fans. Congrats
