That's...not how I would put it. But demanding a written agreement like that, male or female, should be a wee red flag.

I think the missing factor is that the dudes who do this are also extremely manipulative and threatening. If not signing the contract immediately meant he would fly into a rage destroying the house and potentially hurting you, I understand why someone would just give in.
