Always been a fan of Vermont, wish I had moved there a few years ago tbh. I think Florian told me of a lab up near the New York Vermont border. I think it was a government research maybe. It looked heavenly right in the forest kinda..

Now it's been a minute... But it's my understanding this means he doesn't actually ski. Kind of like a teetotaler sitting with a beer nearby, that's gone flat and warm, but they insist it means they're a drinker.

Jeans absorb water *quickly* and if you fall/get into the snow even once you're rapidly left wearing stiff, clammy, heavy, and damp fabric in temperatures that're freezing or lower. Only someone completely new to skiing who's also refused the advice of everyone around them would ski in jeans.

I went skiing on many a night ski trip in HS where there were folks skiing in jeans and a football team jacket. => Rube.

Learned how to ski in western PA mainly, some western NY.

Nothing more manly than wet jeans in cold weather. 😂

Unfortunately I asked about this during the Vermont episode. It seems to have the emotional weight of saying someone cheats at golf or hires someone to run up their score on video games: you exist outside the community and not in a good way.

If you're prepping for your first ski trip, the odds are good that SEVERAL sources close to you have said "don't wear jeans" and explained why. So if you're skiing in jeans, it means you've willfully ignored all advice and it's no longer a question of if you'll wind up with hypothermia, but when.

Meh. All my high school years (disclosure, I am 75, lived near Boston) I skied in waterproofed jeans on my black Head Masters with Look Nevada bindings.

It's all good until you fall and then your jeans get wet and it sucks ass

Not if you properly waterproof. Remember, I was skiing New England, famous for year-round slush skiing....
