Completely fucks me off that everyone I can think of in my year at school appears to be achieving more than me career wise. I'm on £48k. I just want to find one person that's in prison or on the streets

Frame them, make it happen.
This is why I appreciate the dumbass at my high school who tried to stand on the roof of a moving car, fell, cracked his skull and died. Every addict, felon and loser has achieved more, so thanks for that!
Another whining low achiever. I wouldn’t get out of bed for £48k.
I would get into anyone's bed for £48k!
Where did you go? Eton?
Nah - he'd definitely know one who was in prison.
In my experience, the most dissatisfied, the most jealous, the most vocally hard-done-by people I know are also those earning the most. Not everyone earning big bucks is necessarily like this, but the reverse is very true.
That's a solid salary. Most of your needs are met. Maybe have a look at some self help books and work with what you have.
How are you at the bottom of the career pole with £48k? This reads like rage bait.
He's not. Even if he went to fkn Eton there'd be at least one wrongun doing time for something. Likely he can't see the failures because they're dead, or disappeared to avoid debts or threats.
"Comparison is the thief of joy"
Socialize more with them ! Being around well-off people can get you good info on how to improve your own career, or even directly provide opportunities to you.
Mate.. a good life is measured in happiness, not an account balance. Tragedy is multi class. 48k is above average.
Holy crap, where did this kid grow up? 1/3 of my hs class is dead or unhoused and I'm not even 50 yet. Maybe 5 of us broke 100k
Gofundme.com ?
My late best mate once quipped that if ever our school year were to have a reunion, half of them wouldn't be able to get the time off from their jobs at the cash 'n' carry, while the other half wouldn't make parole. And yes, I DID go to a failing secondary modern.
Me too!
But look on the bright side. I bet some of them are conspiracy theory nut baskets by now. Some need viagra. Some of their wives are cheating on them, some of their kids hate them, and some of their mums go to sex clubs. Life’s not just about money, is it?
Should’ve gone to my school. Full of complete morons. Myself included.
Give it time
You are not the car you drive.
Tell that to Bumblebee.
the fact you care means they're already achieving more than you.
One of my childhood bullies is in prison for murder and another died of a rare disease and it's so satisfying.
Is this just bait, or am I alone in thinking £48k is a decent wage (outside London)?
Depends on his age tbh. If he’s 25, yeah. If he’s 55, not so much
As a 55 year old I'd disagree.
if fesser's school buddies are all raking in over 60, 70 , 100+ grand then 48K doesn't cut it. This is how a lot of 'scholarship' kids feel after they graduate and realise its their peers' connections more than their talent that determines their success.
So it's just greedy and envy then? Good to know.
lots of greed, lots of envy 🙁
It's rage bait. I'm in my 40s (just) and am on about this now, after 20+ years of working my way through shitty jobs and sectors. I'm not rich by any means but I'm more than happy to be on what I am. Outside of London. But then again, I don't yearn for money, I just want to be comfortable and happy.
I’d guess that maybe 40% of the people who work for the NHS or civil service are on less than this so it is a decent salary
90%
Stop worrying about what everyone else is doing, it’s such a waste of time. If you like your life that’s fine. If not think what you could change to make it better.
That salary puts the fesser in the top 2% in global income terms, but they nonetheless feel relatively inadequate. If only we measured success using metrics like the quality of our health, loved ones, ethics and generosity of spirit.
I completely agree with your sentiment here, but I think it's a little misleading to compare against global earning rates instead of those in the UK. That said I think they're still in the top 10%.
yeah, fesser is doing ok. Point about the global earnings tho is that if you're born in the UK then that's already a winning lottery ticket to most of the world.
If I had a 48k I’d play Jet Pac and shut the fuck up whinging.
£48k a week is not bad
Be the change you wish to see in the world
Comparison is the enemy of joy dude
Boris?

This is bait. Not biting.
Fucking tragic, only making an above-average salary
In fairness, £48k is pretty good from Only Fans.
What kind of school were you at if you consider £48k bad? I earn well for my 'level' but I'd snap your arm off for £48k. Conversely I'm still the odd one out from my class, all them split into one of 2 groups. Teenage parent chavs who live off the state or well to do married middle class twats.
Give it a couple more years. The thick bullies and/or “cool” kids start darwinning themselves through bad life choices.
I certainly hope they're spiritually better off than you as well.
How many of them are living beyond their means with borrowed money?
The question is how much does the fessor live and spend? £48k is £3k after tax. If mortgage and debt free with simple hobbies it’s a good income. If living well beyond your means, any salary feels inadequate.
You make your own luck in life, perhaps all those other people figured that out. Rather than spending energy complaining and moaning about life, pointlessly comparing your life to other people's, spend that energy on self improvement and carving your own path.
That's absolute horseshit.
I missed blaming others and "the system" for your failings.
Ok, so all those poor fuckers in Gaza, or kids with cancer, that's their fault is it for not "making their own luck". It's a vacuous saying spouted by morons.
Obviously feel free to ignore that otter though or whatever the fuck it is.
I make my own luck. Coincidently my dad makes six figures.
Lol exactly.
Not in my case, absolutely working class, university wasn't even offered to anyone at my school. Just turned down a job offer of £100k
Good for you. All down to your own hard work and dedication no doubt and absolutely no input from the fickle finger of fate
Yeh, no such thing .... You adapt, prioritise, sacrifice, focus on what matters.
You clearly can't determine your starting point in life, and life may deal blows, but everyone still has the ability to steer.
Tell that to someone with terminal cancer, a dead kid, someone trapped in modern slavery etc. Sometimes fate dumps you in the middle of a whirlpool and there's no getting out. So drop the positive-thinking bollocks please. Only halfwits, ignorant of the world around them, espouse that shite.
Appears is the key word there. Don't believe everything you see, hear or read.
Do you enjoy your job though? If you do, that’s worth more than being in a job you hate that pays better.
