His constituents apparently disagree with you mostly because of the long list noted above of things he has been doing that actually represent their interests. But hey, none of their business, right?

If Congress didn't have seniority, he would probably have been out long ago. We're being led by a bunch of 78-year-olds. It's certainly not just him The whole system is stupid that way.
He is not elected by members of Congress. Please review the priorities he had in Congress to understand why he has been there as long as he has. I am glad that he is making room for a new generation but as far as "he should have retired long ago", that decision belonged to his voters.
Note that David Hogg who is leading a charge for replacement of incumbents has stated clearly, it's not age, it's competence and ability to get things done.
The discussion here was that he made some big sacrifice to retire at 78. I just don't think that's a big sacrifice. I think, in fact, he did the right thing. By stepping aside for a younger generation to take over.
He did, because in fact, he likely would have been re-elected. I agree it is a sacrifice. I for one appreciate that and his leadership.
@schakowsky.house.gov is my representative. Her constituent services are top notch, and she votes the way I want her to 99.9999% of the time. She has been my Representative since the early 2000s. Like Nadler, she is stepping down. I am grateful to her both for her service, and for stepping down.
