I attended numerous town meetings when I lived in Kent. They were hosted by the Sevenoaks County Council (Tory) Agree our so-called civil servants rarely listen. They mostly have their own agenda. Rewarding those who got them into power.

When I lived in Kent there was one general election where the local Tories offered lifts to anyone who wanted to get to the polling station. I accepted a lift, and as I got out of the car I said "Thank you, comrade."

That is hysterical. I recall you lived in Kent. I was in Westerham, on the Kent Surrey border. You could see Surrey from our garden. Beautiful part of the world, but I prefer to live near the sea.

I wasn't too far away in West Wickham. Essentially part of London in the 1970s - postally in Bromley and traditionally in Kent. The nearest big shopping centre was Croydon, a very short bus ride away in Surrey.

Things have changed in the formerly safe Tory seat of Chichester, West Sussex. Our new LibDem MP @jessbrownfullermp.bsky.social attends local public meetings and answers any questions members of the public bring to her. It’s a refreshing difference. But these days, her security guard comes too.
