Weirdly, I never liked Scrabble, or crosswords - but I have played Spelling Bee to 'Genius' level daily for many years. I am addicted. Also to 'NYT Connections'. Our friend plays it to 'Queen Bee' level nearly every day. Queen Bee is very tough for me to achieve. I'm not in that league.

I shall begin at Beelet, or whatever the gateway drug is. Perhaps I mention Emma Darwin who is, in my opinion and that of others, a world leading authority on the English language from a technical writing perspective? Had the great privilege of regular online communication with her for a while.

Once described her as the Susie Dent of lots of words together. And she's a smashing person as well and incredibly helpful. When other great writers - and editors - are not 100% sure about something and want to know the absolute correct way, they ask Emma. And she's on Bluesky.

Wonderful, my friend. She sounds like our kind of person for sure. I adore word savvy people.
