Worst thing is that it's not even really trolling; it's earnest. The top brass installed in all these departments believe Dear Leader is infallible, so if Dear Leader says coal is what we should be focussing on, then by god, so be it! Science, and common sense, and data to the contrary be damned!

Perhaps, but if there's anything I'm sure of, it's that there is no 4d chess, no 'intentional distractions,' etc.—Trump and the rest of this regime have all the subtlety of an ice-water enema. They might not be able to DO everything they say, but everything they say is what they would LIKE to do.
