I’ve been determined to learn to knit, but been so frustrated at how much more difficult it is to fix mistakes than crocheting and I don’t know anyone who can help me. I also learned to crochet from YouTube, and I could figure out what I did wrong much more easily

Our yarn shop offers “fixing mistakes” classes, so check and see if there’s one in your area. If your shop doesn’t, ask them to! I’ve been knitting a long time and the best way I learned is by fixing my own mistakes. Going to knitting circles, taking classes worked for me. Good luck!

shameful confession: I’ve been knitting a long time and enjoy doing lace and cables and stuff but I never learned how to fix mistakes beyond ripping back or pretending not to see them

Tbh I’ve only laddered down to fix cables a few times. And lace? Forget about it 😂 Lifelines and ripping back are what work for me most of the time. The key is finding *where* the mistakes are as they happen (best case scenario) which means knowing what the stitches look like. Also, counting. A LOT.

I have successfully laddered down a few times, but when that doesn’t work I undo it - but then I can’t get the yarn back onto the needles again 😂

This!! Currently trying to teach myself to knit and while the IG knitting community has been SO sweet and supportive… it’s way, way harder to learn! I’m a self-taught crocheter but I’m about ready to ask for private knitting lessons for my birthday 😅

Patty Lyons Knitting Bag of Tricks did wonders for me, even just reading it before I started the matching workbook

Check your local library and yarn shops! They may have classes or a drop-in time where some of the more experienced people are willing to help out!
