My favorite is A Midsummer Night's Dream. IMO, it's his best comedy.

I personally liked much ado about nothing better! But damn a midsummer night’s dream has some brilliant lines

Much Ado is great and I think more Shakespeare fans agree with you, than with me. But, of all the clownish characters in his comedies, Bottom and the other Tragedians have the most hilarious material. It's raunchy, but it's also timeless. And you have more freedom for creativity with it, re: design.

Would agree with that second part, I think aside from maybe Macbeth it's the most descriptive in terms of imagery. You really get a good idea of the characters and the Forrest in the twilight hour in your mind's eye.

There's just a lot of visual potential there.

My favorite Shakespeare works are all those that inherently provide a framework for conceptually heightened scenic design. The Tempest of course, and also Taming of the Shrew The brothel conceit that provides the frame changes everything else in that show. It's not really a comedy without it.

I hear I need to read even more Shakespeare haha. Only just dipped my toes into it but it's really nice to finally have a framework to see these works and the adaptations through.
