Well, even the pro-facism Dems would vote against giving authoritarian power to the opposing party. Nevertheless, politicians that will support genocide abroad will tolerate a genocide at home. Their reaction to Mamdani's candidacy makes clear they'd rather have fascism than progressive policy.

Well, the Dem leadership doesn't appear interested in fighting fascism, do they? And didn't they lead the charge in suppressing free speech during the anti-genocide protests? They voted to change the definition of antisemitism. That's textbook fascism.

I don't know how they can possibly recruit anyone to fill those positions when it's common knowledge they will eventually face charges for the crimes they are ordered to commit, and that "following orders" is not an acceptable defense.

My favorite Shakespeare works are all those that inherently provide a framework for conceptually heightened scenic design. The Tempest of course, and also Taming of the Shrew The brothel conceit that provides the frame changes everything else in that show. It's not really a comedy without it.

I think the time might be ripe for a break-away party similar to the one Corbyn is building in Britain. But, if a party composed of progressives who won't be bought were to appear in the US, the Dems would sue to prevent them from running, because they'd win wherever they ran.

Much Ado is great and I think more Shakespeare fans agree with you, than with me. But, of all the clownish characters in his comedies, Bottom and the other Tragedians have the most hilarious material. It's raunchy, but it's also timeless. And you have more freedom for creativity with it, re: design.

Yes, we do, but we will not get it under current Dem leadership. If Dems hold both houses and the WH, they will simply maintain the status quo, they won't pull us back to the left. "Nothing will substantially change" is what they run on. That, and not being Republicans.

It's odd, isn't it, that despite those "really great things" we are still on track to drive ourselves to extinction, and we actually sped that process up under the last Dem POTUS. None of those great things will matter when we are all dead.

She wouldn't have voted for impeachment if she thought they'd convict and ACA was a Republican policy proposal and the rest of the party would not be so eager to repeal it if a black man hadn't been POTUS when it passed, so I wouldn't count that as a major departure from the party line.

Romance in anime is a tertiary concern for me so I rarely see it. No real romance in Frieren, The Apothecary Diaries, or Delicious in Dungeon, for instance. Onmyouji has a secondary gay romance plot - unrequited, of course, but more interesting than a straight romance.

I could accept that film rating system is soft censorship because it actually prevents some people from seeing films (i.e. censorship) if they are not yet adults. But a warning - even an official one - doesn't prevent anyone from accessing the material so. by definition. it's not censorship.

Compromises are one thing. Politics is often about compromise. But, to look the other way on the unequivocal support of an extremist right-wing regime's campaign of genocide to benefit yourself locally is to sell your soul for privilege. That's a red line, not a purity test.

My experience is admittedly limited, but it really appears like you are describing the Call of Cthulhu ttrpg. Miskatonic University, with a library chock full of ancient, dusty tomes full of forbidden knowledge, is among the most popular settings for action in that game. I like it, but YMMV.

This is dependent on how much damage has already been done to the educational system. There is every possibility his poor performance might result in a complete rewrite of the IQ test (or SAT) into an even more biased indicator of intellect than it already is.

Epstein bragged he was involved in an intelligence operation. If he wasn't lying, we can assume that operation was extremely successful and there is a very strong possibility that our national security is compromised. We should also assume he wasn't the only operative and the operation is ongoing.

Are there no real scholars/critical thinkers among those who train AI that can teach it to recognize and sort facts from opinions and real information from misinformation? Have they tried? Have they been trying and failing this entire time?

I was under the impression, given the other coverage of this, that the administration delayed shipment until the food was rotten, necessitating it's incineration. I'm betting it's not the only delayed delivery. How much more food will be wasted?

That will never be in any bill Republicans allow to be sent to the desk of the POTUS. They are the architects of the Social Security tax and they'd increase it to 100% if they thought they could get away with it.

How about "Get out the midterm PRIMARY vote"??? It's become clear that one of the great failures of the Dem Party is their complete lack of competence in vetting candidates. The way to begin fixing this issue is to push for a massive increase in participation in the Dem primaries.

At this point it's not unreasonable to predict that there is evidence of considerable importance to our national security to be found in those files. Evidence that will uncover foreign manipulation of our politicians (and their wealthy campaign donors) that our citizens really ought to learn about.

Miss the guy responsible for making me and the rest of the U.S. citizens complicit in unwavering support of a right-wing regime's campaign of genocide? Not really, no. By that one act, you've canceled out any good that might have come from every other thing you ever did.

No one is above criticism, and those who attack valid criticism of Dem politicians out of loyalty are using the conservative playbook. Conservatives value loyalty over honesty, not progressives. Get your priorities in order and stop baiting the two-party deathtrap.

MAGA is melting down because it's the first time they didn't just drink the kool-aid without question. That's good! But, will they realize the kool-aid has been toxic this whole time or will they just go right back to that same poisoned well tomorrow?

We don't even know they are "agents." They could be NAZI terrorists masquerading as agents, or some bullies just out on a personal vendetta, or "volunteers" taking part in a pogrom. We don't know! What we know is they don't respect due process, so legal or not, they're kidnappers.

The same way as always: Present them with the problem. Explain why it's a problem. Meet their objections. Present them with a better option. Show them how it works. Show them that they are not losing power, they are gaining a future. Meet their objections. Ask them to join the effort.

Actually, the idea is to change it from the inside. Or rather to convince the elected party politicians to split into smaller parties, voluntarily. The two-party deathtrap is unsustainable, and it's relatively easy to prove it. We adapt or we die.
