And here we go! I hope you’re hungry for nothing!

Thank you for writing to me. Australia's online safety work is world leading and the Albanese Labor Government is taking decisive action to minimise online harms and hold industry accountable. The Government has legislated a minimum age for holding a social media account, and is working to better protect - not isolate - young people online. The Government has ensured that the eSafety Commissioner is well resourced to assist Australians who face serious abuse online, to educate Australians about online risks, and to hold online service providers to account. The Government brought forward the independent statutory review of the Online Safety Act 2021, to ensure the Act remains fit for purpose. On 4 February 2025, the Government tabled the report of the independent statutory review of the Online Safety Act 2021, which made 67 recommendations to strengthen Australia's online safety laws. The Government is examining the recommendations put forward in the review. A key recommendation of the review is moving towards a systems-based 'duty of care' to ensure digital platforms take responsibility for minimising harm on their services. On 13 November 2024, the Government announced its intention to legislate a duty of care. The Government is working to develop a duty of care model that could be adopted in Australia, with careful consideration being given to the design and implementation of an appropriate framework. I trust this information is of assistance and I appreciate you taking the time to write to me. Sincerely, [redacted]

Thanks and keep at it,these nothing answers are not enough. Remember everyone politicians operate on "winning" and "solving" issues .you could present 100 reasons why something is bad, they will politely ignore them as they don't want to loose. Wether the issue is functionality solved is irrelevant

They need to appear to be "doing"something. Yes they are sending us in bad faith into a authoritarian technocratic survialance state, but the children you see. Get as many people you can calling.if it has not hit your country assume it will and get the word out early that this is bad.

If they really must do it then it should be completely anonymous. My idea is to go down to a local service station, newsagent etc who can verify your ID physically (and not stored) then give you a code to unlock the account.

The problem is still in 2 fold. #1- any content/app/site can be labeled as harmfull and enough people can't find it it can disappear(with all it's info) #2 it still gives the state/whoever is authorizing the ability to just stop. I have experienced internet shutdowns.know imagine their is civil

Unrest with the internet being flooded with war crimes the government has been documented doing. They can decide "temporarily" no tickets/systems to verify will be online. So know online published works showing their crimes can't be viewed because "harmfull". That is scary right?

Their is no version of verifying that does not leave open to abuse or tracking. It needs to be wholesale removed. I hate to say it just as their is no good indentured servitude their is no good mas censoring and Surveillance. We didn't have this as it gave to much power to platforms and governments.
