Ok so… metallurgy is not in my wheelhouse, but stainless steel rusts?
There are a bunch of different alloys that get called stainless steel, some are more corrosion resistant than others. It seems in line with other Tesla decisions to think they could get away with less corrosion resistance than is needed!
It’s crazy how bad that truck is.
One image from my younger days that sticks with me is seeing an Olds that was so rusted that the outer metal body was literally flapping as the person drove down the road. I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing a lot of that in the next couple of years.
My dad’s TR 4 footwell rusted through. You could see the road between your feet. Nuts
